A Life of Service, Wisdom and Global Vision

Muchkund Dubey was one of India's most respected diplomats, scholars, and public intellectuals. Born in Deoghar in 1933, he joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1957 and went on to serve India in several critical diplomatic and leadership roles over a distinguished career spanning more than three decades.

He served as India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Permanent Representative to United Nations organizations in Geneva, and ultimately as Foreign Secretary of India from April 1990 to November 1991 during a period of significant global transformation marked by the end of the Cold War and major geopolitical shifts.

Following his diplomatic career, he continued to contribute to public policy, international relations, social development, and academic discourse through his work with educational institutions and development organizations. He served as President of the Council for Social Development, Chairman of the Asian Development Research Institute, and Professor of International Relations.

His life remains an enduring example of intellectual integrity, commitment to public service, and dedication to a more equitable and peaceful world.
